The National High School Musical Theater Awards

Rules and Regulations

 

Eligibility Requirements:


• A participating program must be associated with or presented by a legitimate professional theater: member of NAMT, The Broadway League, The Consortium of Eastern Regional Theaters or TCG.
• A participating program will be responsible for funding a trip to New York City for 3 people: 1 Best Actor Entry, 1 Best Actress Entry, and 1 Chaperone.
• A non-refundable registration Fee of $1,000 will be charged to each participating theater or awards program.
• Participants and chaperones must be conflict free and available Wednesday, June 23, 2010 – Tuesday, June 29, 2010
• The Awards show date is: Monday, June 28, 2010, 7:30 p.m.
 

Guidelines:

  
• A participating program must submit one Best Actor and one Best Actress candidate, selected by a scored, adjudicated panel of judges.
• All score sheets must be submitted along with participants’ names and information.
• Participants understand that they will travel to New York City to participate in a 5-6 day event that includes: private coaching, rehearsals for the opening and closing number of the show, auditions, interviews, and a process of elimination resulting in a handful of finalists.
• Participants understand and agree to all possible videotaping, televised opportunities, photos, press interviews, and print advertising.
• Chaperones must be available to assist the NHS Musical Theater Awards staff working with students behind the scenes and backstage.
 

Rules:
 

• One Best Actor and one Best Actress will represent each professional awards program.
• The participants must be high school students, grades 9-12.
• Participants will be evaluated by a panel of adjudicated judges in New York City.
• All decisions and awards are final.
• No Supporting Roles will be accepted in place of a Best Actor or Best Actress. In the event that a Best Actor or Best Actress is not able to participate, a runner-up in the same category will be eligible to participate.
