Footlighters Scholarship Awards

One of Southern California's oldest musical theatre companies, the 57-year-old Musical Theatre West company has garnered national recognition and critical acclaim.  The company's Footlighters program was formed in 2000 with the primary purpose of supporting and promoting musical theater through the sponsorship of special events and other activities.  In 2005, the Footlighters program gave its first  annual Footlighters Scholarship Awards to five local high school students.  The scholarship is made possible by the Footlighters Scholarship Committee, Footlighters Board and Musical Theatre West’s commitment to the development of young talent and by the generosity of others who have contributed to the Scholarship Fund.

This year, nearly 40 students were hand-picked by their directors and teachers to audition for the chance to win one of five $1,000 Footlighters scholarships.  The winning students have the chance to then perform at the Footlighter's Music in the Morning program in front of 150 audience members at the luncheon.
